Mother Kills Unborn Infant While DUI
In Georgia, a woman was arrested on May 14th after she killed her unborn child. According to police, the infant was 24 weeks old and was killed while the mother was driving under the influence (DUI) and involved in a major accident. Instead of staying at the scene of the accident and waiting for police, officers say the woman, Jessica Bruce, fled the scene.
Bruce was traveling 85 mph in a 65 mph zone when police tried to pull her over. While fleeing from officers, she managed to hit one car and then spin into oncoming traffic, which led to her vehicle being hit one more time.
Police say that Bruce's vehicle was totaled and they had to cut her car in half to pull her from the wreckage. After being removed from her car, Bruce was rushed to the hospital. Doctors performed an emergency C-Section and discovered that Bruce's baby had not survived the accident.
Police say that after a preliminary investigation, it appeared that Bruce was DUI.
