Former Sheriff Sentenced to 8 Years in Prison for Child Pornography
Sometimes those who pledge to uphold the law end up being one of the ones to break it. This is the case for Milton Scott Pruitt, a former Forsythe County sheriff's deputy who was convicted of receiving child pornography last July.
Last month, Pruitt was sentenced to more than eight years in federal prison for the offense. After his release he will be on supervised probation.
Pruitt's charges stem from an incident that occurred back in March 2007. According to reports, Pruitt was working the overnight shift when he used an in-car computer to access child pornographic images stored in a detective's computer files. A person working in the IT department noticed what Pruitt had did, and alerted the appropriate authorities. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation then searched Pruitt's personal computer at home, where they discovered hundreds more images of child pornography, as well multiple Internet searches.
Pruitt admits to looking at the pictures, but claims it was out of curiosity as opposed to fulfilling a sexual satisfaction.
