It has been reported that Academy Award-winning actress Kate Winslet and her husband, Academy Award-winning director Sam Mendes, will file for divorce. But unlike other famous Hollywood couples, WInslet’s and Mendes’ divorce appears to be amicable.
The pending divorce is "entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement" and "both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children," said a London-based law firm in a statement.
Winslet and Mendes have one child together, a six-year-old son named Joe. Together they also raised Winslet’s 9-year-old daughter Mia from her previous marriage to Jim Threapolton.
Thinking of Filing for Divorce?
When a couple has made the decision to file for divorce, it’s both of their best interests, as well as their children’s interests, to try and resolve the divorce as civilly and as amicably as possible. A messy, drawn-out, and contentious divorce only makes things more difficult than they already are, and will quickly drive up legal fees as well. For the sake of your wallet and your sanity, it’s best to put aside any differences or negative feelings you may have and try to settle your divorce peacefully.
