In Orange County, California, it is reported that a mother who adopted a child lost custody after the biological father said that he wanted child custody.

Prior to the decision, attorneys in California and Ohio were on a conference call. All parties were trying to decide if the adoptive mother, 45 year old Stacey Doss, would be able to keep custody of her adopted daughter whom she raised from birth. The daughter, Vanessa Doss, was given up by her biological mother. However, the adoption was not technically finalized and now the girl's father wants her back.

The court ruled that the mother of the biological father would be left to care for the child. On July 16th, the custody matter will go to Ohio's jurisdiction as it is the father's resident state.

At this time, Stacey Doss had made it clear that she has plans to file an emergency appeal of the court's decision. She said that the biological father already has four children that he does not take care of full-time. She also stated that the father had served time for domestic abuse charges.

This week, a court official approved a prosecutor's request to revoke the Nevada medical license of Dr. Conrad Murray. Murray is the physician that was charged in connection with Michael Jackson's death one year ago.

Murray managed to avoid having to appear in court on the anniversary of the pop star's death due to a child support payment plan his lawyers were able to work out on Thursday with a prosecutor from Clark County.

Chief Deputy Clark County District Attorney Gerard Constantian said in family court, "Dr. Murray gets a reprieve from license suspension because yesterday we received payment of $5,214 in a lump sum." In order for the deal to remain on good terms, the doctor must make his child support payment every month. If he falls short, he will face additional legal proceedings.

In the state of Nevada, if medical professionals are delinquent with their child support payments, their medical licenses can be suspended by the courts.

Legal separation is a complicated process that can be emotionally draining. However, when spouses are fully prepared for their separations, they usually find that the process is less traumatic and easier to contend with. In this blog entry, our family law firm provides a few tips for those who are preparing to legally separate from their spouses:

§ Get help from a family attorney. Legal separation is, in fact, a legal procedure. For this reason, spouses will find it is to their advantage to retain the services of a qualified family lawyer.

§ Speak with a counselor. Spouses that are dealing with complicated emotions, such as resentment or anger, will find that it is most helpful to speak with a counselor or a therapist.

§ Understand your finances. It is important to be aware of your financial information and to make copies of things such as credit card and bank statements.

§ Be open with your children. Kids are very intuitive and know when something is not right. For this reason, you may want to consider being open with your kids about what is happening and what they can expect.

If you would like additional information about legal separation in Georgia and the steps you should take, contact the Law Office of Douglas N.
1. A divorce attorney can help you with your divorce petition to make sure it is legitimate and that you meet the state's grounds for divorce and residency requirements.

2. A divorce lawyer can help you mediate through contentious situations with your soon-to-be ex spouse and reach amicable resolutions.

3. An attorney that handles divorce cases can ensure that you either have custody of your children or have sufficient visitation time.

Going through a divorce in Gwinnett County? Instead of going through the legal process on your own and leaving much to chance, contact the Law Office of Douglas N. Fox today!
